Sampson-Choma Family | Family Pictures

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

I have the sweetest job in the whole world. Here’s what I get to do on a semi-cloudy, perfectly breezy, 65 degree mid Thursday afternoon – I get to meet beautiful families, with amazing children, and super-ridiculously-awesome pictures, and capture some still shots of their family that will hopefully be passed down from generation to generation. No biggie… :)

a

This family is awesome. Tosha and Kimathi’s son, Isaiah, attends the local Christian school where I placed one of my family portrait sessions up for auction – and they WON! I found out about the Flint Hills Christian School‘s annual auction to raise money for their school for sports, activities for the kids and various other expenses, and I had to jump on board! So, a couple days ago, we met up at this beautiful fountain, that is behind the campus apartment buildings (who even knew this was there?) and started clicking away on one of my new favorite families! Tosha is an english professor at K-State and Kimathi is a Vet – so we naturally had to take our pictures on campus! :)

a

Okay, okay…done with the talking (for now). Just enjoy this beautiful family – and their firecracker of a son, Isaiah :) Such naturals in front of the camera!  :) Enjoy part one for now…part two is coming tomorrow! :)

Isaiah is trying to mimic his daddy in these portraits, and I thought it was seriously adorable. :)

Beautiful, beautiful princess - so intrigued by the tall grass!

Matthew, Tracy and Levi | Part Two

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

We took the first part of Levi’s one year portraits outside in a beautiful backyard in St.Joseph, Missouri! (Click here to see some portraits from the outside portion!) For the second half of our shoot, we did a quick wardrobe change and moved inside! Little Levi changed into this adorable green checkered overall outfit and began exploring indoors – he quickly moved his little hiney to the stairs, and, being the adventurous boy that he is, moved right up the stairs on all fours! Again, enjoy the adventure of the world through the eyes of a one year old!

a

Like part one, I want to know what you think – did I capture the world through the eyes of one year old? Can you see the sense of wonder, excitement, pure joy and adventure? Leave a comment at the bottom and let me know what you think! :)

Matthew, Tracy and Levi | Part 1

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Tracy and Matthew and I met about 2 years ago, and our friendship has continued to grow ever since! They are the kind of people that you can’t help but smile when you are around – they are loving, caring, selfless and just overall wonderful :) So, when two people like that have a family together – you know you are going to have a dynamite baby :) And that’s exactly what Levi is – he is so smart, adventurous, always laughing, carefree and seriously, seriously cute!

a

So, today we met up at one of Tracy’s friend’s house who has a seriously awesome backyard and a beautiful staircase indoors. Levi explored the outdoors – wide eyed and seriously loving the freedom of the outdoors! One of my favorite things about taking pictures of toddlers and little babes is their sense of “awe-struck” – even a simple stone wall becomes the most interesting array of rough textures, varying shadows and this “little” three foot wall becomes a great fort, or a tower, or even better – a rock wall to climb! I love seeing the world through their little eyes – and I try my hardest to capture that for you to see – the world as they see it :)

a

So, leave a comment and let me know how I do…do these pictures give you a better glimpse of what a one year old sees? Their excitement, sense of wonder and pure, simple joy? Let me know! :)

Josh, Kasie and Ella – Part Three

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Because I couldn’t stop picking out my favorites, this post has three parts to it (for part 1, click here; for part 2, click here! :) This last section is dedicated to the adorable, seriously adorable, facial expressions of Miss Princess Ella! When we were walking around Konza Prairie, we found a beautiful open field with some brush in it and plopped Ella in a basket in the middle, and she loved it! She kept looking out of the basket, in the basket, trying to figure out what was going on, and I think I captured her child like essence through these little moments of inquisitive-ness (yes, this is officially now a word!)

a

Enjoy these beautiful faces, and I promise, this is the last post of these seriously adorable cuties! :)

Josh, Kasie and Ella – Part 2

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

As you saw earlier (click here for post, Part 1), this family is gorgeous! They are loving, caring, compassionate, funny, and adorable :) Kasie is one of the most beautiful women I’ve met, and is an absolutely glowing expectant mother! Their little peanut is due in July, and they are expecting a boy! I hope you enjoy this beautiful family – and hopefully through these pictures you can see, absorb and glean from thier love, joy and laughter :) …And! Please notice their seriously great sense of spring fashion…love baby Ella’s green shoes and her little yellow rain jumper and Kasie’s adorable pink maternity shirt :)
